Complete running 787 carb model engine from the 1997 Seadoo GTX in the pic. The charging system works great and engine ran great with no problems. The problem this motor has is when it sits for a week, the rear spark plug gets very wet with oil. This only happens when the ski sits for a while. Once the plug has been pulled, cleaned, cylinder purged and plug reinstalled, it runs fine. It doesn't even smoke excessively.  I found out through online sources the middle crank seal is starting to leak by. If you run the shut off valve attached to the motor and shut the oil off at the end of the day when finished riding, hardly any oil gets by and it starts fine. I have been running this setup for two summers. The engine compression is 150 and 160 on the cylinders. I'm only parting it out because I have a four stroke ski. Contact me for any questions.

I'm starting the bid low because this motor has this oil leak by problem. It is 100 pounds complete, I would remove the starter and charge system but the weight savings is only about 10 bucks. Might as well leave everything on there and give you these parts.

Lotus Evora 414E Range Extender EV moves forward

Sun, 28 Oct 2012

The Lotus Evora 414E – a Lotus Engineering range extender hybrid project – is still moving ahead with dynamic and durability testing now underway. On the surface the Evora 414E looked like every other Evora, but under the skin sat the first version of a Lotus range-extender platform with a pair of electric motors and a small, 3-cylinder range-extender engine promising impressive performance and economy. Despite the reveal of the 414E at Geneva in 2010, there’s not been a huge amount of news on Lotus pushing forward with the project, or at least not until we got the Infiniti Emerg-E Concept at Geneva this year that turned out to be underpinned by the Evora 414E platform.

Audi tracks down the last Horch

Fri, 27 Nov 2009

The last Horch built, found in the middle of Texas It’s been looking likely for a while that now VW has taken control of Porsche it may decide to rebrand the VW Group as Auto Union. Auto Union was the root of Audi, and was formed in the ’30s when Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer joined forces to become Auto Union and pool their resources to cope with the depression (sound familiar?). Which might explain why Audi has been scouring the planet for rare cars from its Auto Union days.

Pick up a twelver for the tired cat, wouldya?

The timeworn solution to quelling the finicky (read “expensive to repair”) Jaguar V12 has been to swap the British unit with that eight-pot testament to midcentury American ingenuity, the Chevrolet small block. We've seen an '80s-era L98 in a Lamborghini Espada. We've borne witness '90's-era LT1s in all manner of things.
