Chevy Volt production stopped as sales falter
Sat, 03 Mar 2012Chevy Volt production halted General Motors has announced that they’re halting production of the range-extender Chevrolet Volt as sales falter. The Chevy Volt is General Motors’ car of the future (and sister car to the Vauxhall Ampera) with a range extender engine and the ability to run on a plug-in charge. SsangYong XIV-2 concept
Mon, 13 Feb 2012The SsangYong XIV-2 concept – the second of its ‘eXciting user Interface Vehicles' [sic] – will make its debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The two-door, open-top crossover is an evolution of the I.DE.A designed XIV-1, shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Visually, the XIV-2 is a departure from both the previous Ssangyong KEV2 and XIV-1 concepts, with an all-new DRG featuring a simpler, more upright fascia and cleaner pulled-back headlamps – suggestive of a more production-ready front fascia.
New Saab 9-3 leaks – Saab’s future?
Mon, 31 Oct 2011New Saab 9-3 leaks It makes a change to have a Saab story that isn’t more doom and gloom and financial meltdown, but it does seem a bit of a coincidence that an image of the new Saab 9-3 should surface on the day Saab reveals the Chinese investment plans to put Saab back on its feet. Still, casting our cynicism aside, the new Saab 9-3 will be a key part of the plans to revive Saab – but this leaked photo isn’t the first news we’ve had of the new 9-3. Apart from Victor Muller’s musings about Saab’s future, we saw a proper concept of the new 9-3 back at Geneva in the Spring when Saab called the Saab PhoeniX (the 9-3 Concept) an ‘Aeromotional Design’ and managed to allude to Saab’s background in fighter planes by saying the PhoeniX ‘liquid metal’ forms and a dramatic jet canopy-inspired glasshouse’.
