Up for auction, one Mustang Ocean Commander survival suit, model OC4000HR. Item is listed as "new" because it appears to have never been used. There is no wear on the soles of the boots, or any dirt, scuffs, or other indications of use, even for training. Auction includes original bag and laminated instruction card.

If you know Mustang Survival, you know their gear. This is one beast of a suit, top of the line for anyone who needs comfortable safety out on the water. It's got lots of bells and whistles and blinking lights. Well, ok it doesn't have any bells, but it does have one whistle and one blinking light.

Here are some general details about the suit:
  • Suit is fully waterproof and insulated
  • Attached red neoprene drysuit-style hood with velcro and reflectors
  • Attached neoprene shoes with molded rubber soles
  • Soft neoprene "skin in" cuffs, very stretchy
  • Attached pull-on neoprene mittens
  • Blinking light with water-activated battery
  • Bi-tone rescue whistle with lanyard
  • Nylon rescue yoke around the chest, with metal hardware
  • Waist-to-chin drysuit style zipper, by the company YKK
  • Inflatable air cushion/pillow on the back of the shoulders
This suit is huge. The size is labeled as "Adult 1". I'm 6 feet tall with a rugby player build, 260 pounds, 48" chest, and 38" waist and it fits me with room to spare. The hood even fits my fat head, which is 25" aka XXL in motorcycle helmets.

The ACTUAL measurements of the suit are listed below. Note that it's got an insulated neoprene & nylon liner, and all measurements were taken from the outside. All sizes are approximate.
  • Chest: 60"
  • Waist: 50"
  • Length of sleeve: 24"
  • Boots: USA size 12
  • Width across shoulders & arms from cuff to cuff: 72"
  • Full length from top of hood to bottom of boots: 84"
Item is in excellent condition, but does show evidence of long-term storage. The neoprene hood has wrinkles scrunched into it and its adhesive reflector tape is peeling a bit. However, all other parts of the suit are like new. There are some marks on one shoulder that I found could be rubbed off, but they're barely visible. The suit is clean and smells new. It doesn't smell as if it was stored somewhere damp before it came into my hands, and after that it was stored hung up in a bedroom closet. Note the included original storage bag does show some evidence of being tossed around, and it's slightly faded on one side as if it was continuously exposed to light while in storage, and the laminated instruction card is a bit wrinkled.

Tue, 28 Feb 2012

We should know the buyer of Saab soon The Swedish press have been told that the bidding on Saab has now closed and that the successful buyer will be announced shortly. It’s amazing how much interest – and speculation - there is around the demised Saab; so much so we’ve probably reported as much on Saab after its demise as we did when it was in the throes of turmoil. Saab’s administrator, Hans Bergqvist, has revealed that the bidding process is now closed and that he will be talking to Saab stakeholders to discuss the bids and confirm which of the number of bidders is successful.

Porsche Profits up 25 per cent - driven by Porsche Cayenne sales Building the Cayenne will be the end of Porsche, cried the Porsche anoraks when Stuttgart entered the SUV fray with the Cayenne back in 2003. But nothing could be further from the truth. As we’ve pointed out endlessly, the lure of a capable and sporty SUV with an iconic badge is a license for Porsche to print money.
