Wed, 20 Nov 2013The Porsche Macan (pictured) has been revealed in LA The Porsche Macan has been revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, although Porsche’s endless teases for the baby Cayenne mean we already know much of what’s on offer in the Cayenne. The styling is very much ‘Baby Cayenne’, and no one is going to think the Macan is anything other than a smaller Porsche SUV with its very familiar looks. The Macan is smaller than the Cayenne – 146mm shorter and 16mm narrower – but it is bigger than the Audi Q5 on which it’s based (70mm longer and 24mm wider – lower too by 30mm).
Volvo makes breakthrough in battery tech
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Volvo has developed a new way of ‘storing’ energy for its future electric vehicles. The Swedish firm is exploring the concept of lightweight structural energy storage components made from carbonfibre, containing “nano structured batteries and super capacitors.” This technology is said to offer a lighter, more compact solution to the problem of energy storage, potentially removing the need for the heavy, bulky batteries used in current electric vehicles. Thu, 21 Nov 2013The new 2014 Lexus CT 200h (pictured) has debuted in China It’s three years since Lexus delivered their compact hybrid CT 200h and, as we revealed last week, a new CT 200h for 2014 is on the way. Lexus has now revealed the 2014 CT 200h at the Guangzhou motor show in China, and it gets the new Lexus face of a statement spindle grill, but it also gets changes that should help make the CT 200h more appealing. Top of those changes is improvements in the way the CT 200h rides; our biggest criticism of the CT 200h was that it had the harsh ride of a sporty car but without the power to exploit the setup.
