Lotus news at 2009 Tokyo motor show

Lotus was one of only three foreign manufacturers to exhibit at the 2009 Tokyo show, and as well as shouting about the success of the Evora (including a mention of it scooping CAR's PCoTY title), the company unveiled a special-edition Exige. Called the Exige Stealth is Japan – and the ugly-sounding Scura throughout the rest of the world – it's black all over. Buyers are lining up to put the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette in their garages, but we're already looking ahead to the hopped-up versions Chevrolet is likely to unveil down the road. There will be a new Z06, of course, but we're talking about the Stingray version of the beastly, supercharged Corvette ZR1. Thanks to a pair of renderings, we can imagine what the new ZR1, which will likely be a 2015 or 2016 model year vehicle, might look like.

Fire risk Porsche in global recall

SPORTS car maker Porsche is asking more than 100 UK owners of the latest 911 GT3 models to stop driving them while tests go on following cases of vehicles catching fire. The advice, to 101 UK owners who have paid around £100,000 for their vehicles, has gone out to a total of 785 owners worldwide of the GT3s from the 2014 model year. Porsche said there had been two cases in Europe of cars catching fire.
