Powerglide Circle Track Race Transmission on 2040-parts.com
Webster, New York, United States
I have a fully rebuilt aluminum Power-glide race transmission. It is a direct drive, first gear only transmission with a TCI "dummy" torque converter. The transmission was fully rebuilt with a new reverse clutch pack, a new pump seal and gasket, a new higher flow filter, and both valve body gaskets are new. After the rebuild it was put on a transmission dyno and it was run in forward and reverse and the pressures were monitored. As shown in the pictures the transmission was ran at 966 rpm and the line pressure was at 155 psi which is a strong pressure for racing. The dyno also tested the function of the new clutch pack so when its in reverse we placed a load of 27% on it which is the equivalent of hauling a loaded trailer and the transmission didn't slip at all.

Whos Where: Pierre Castinel is Head of Design at Tata
Wed, 02 Apr 2008Indian automaker Tata has been front page news often in recent times, first because of the impressive one-lakh Nano, which changes the automotive industry playing field, and most recently because of its acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford's Premiere Automotive Group for the tidy sum of $2.3 billion - less than half what Ford paid for both companies in 1989. At the helm of Tata's design efforts is Pierre Castinel, Head of Design. Though only officially announced in March this year, Castinel has been active at Tata since he left Renault in summer 2007, a company he worked at for 20 years. Castinel started as a modeler for Peugeot and worked there for three years.

Entitled 'Think Outside the Parking Box', registration to the competition is open to professionals, students, and design enthusiasts until September 27th, 2009. Based around Nissan's Qashqai urban crossover - currently marketed as being 'urbanproof' - the brief calls for entries that challenge any element of urban parking, be it underground, exterior, interior, multi-layer or ground level.
