Road accidents' annual cost '£34bn'

THE TOTAL ANNUAL COST of road accidents, including the human suffering as well as the medical bills, could be more than £34 billion, according to Government estimates. Latest figures show that British road accidents that were reported in 2012 cost an estimated £15.12 billion. This included damage-only accidents but did not allow for unreported injury accidents.

New smart fortwo electric drive enters production

Mercedes has announced that the third generation 2012 smart fortwo electric drive has gone in to production. Mercedes may, very sensibly, be pursuing hydrogen fuel cells as the real future of motoring but they still have an eye on electric cars as urban runarounds. That urban EV takes shape as the Smart EV, and the third generation smart fortwo ED (electric drive) debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March and has now gone in to production.

We have new video of the Jaguar F-Type ahead of its reveal in a week’s time at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Jaguar then did pragmatic thing and released that rogue image of three F-Types officially (rather than twisting arms to take it down as sister company Land Rover did with the first photo of the 2013 Range Rover) so we could see the F-Type in decent detail.
