This is a pair of VW Volkswagen Heater Box Repair Pipes that I picked up at an antique shop here in Maine a couple of days ago. IAPCO #C-560
They repair the ends of heater boxes where they slip into the muffler and will save you a bundle over the cost of new heat exchangers.
