Volvo 240 260 Hood Hinges

Fits all Volvo 200 series cars 1975-1993. These hinges are from an earlier model car and have the larger adjustment holes for the hood bolts.  Bolts on those cars are use in conjunction with large fender washers.  Plan accordingly (re-use or buy some fender washers) when installing.

Volvo color code # (not sure # on this one): "Medium Green"  This color is often painted on 200 series various models 1975-1979 commonly, possibly others as well.  It's not quite as dark as the "park bench" green used on some 1978-1984 models.

The color code is easily found on the passenger side strut tower VIN/ID plate on 1981+ USA models.  Earlier models you might need to call the dealer for a build sheet for your vin # if you can't find an ID plate for the color code.  Other markets VIN plates I'm not sure.

Excellent used condition.  Many often bind at the lower pivot from rust and lack of lubrication, permanently fatiguing & compromising the hinge.  Very very few survive in this condition. Thoroughly examined to verify that all pivots move freely, lubricated with correct #2 light tool oil/ATF now, and throughout the life of the car, if the hinges aren't lubricated scrupulously on schedule (6k miles/6 months), it really shows now as the cars age and the hinges are examined carefully.  Lubricate on install and regularly thereafter.  I often oil with a little bottle of ATF and melt a little bit of thick moly grease into the pivots with the heat gun on my own cars for maximum longevity.  Never replaced another hinge, and you shouldn't have to either!  Water often runs down a dry hinge to the lower pivot and washes out the oil/grease.  The moly metal in the grease helps keep some lubrication between regular correct weight pilings I've found, do so at you own risk.

The helper springs (if included, see photos) are left loose.  The more straight hook goes on the top and they are easily reinstalled with a hook pick or similar if your car uses them or the hood won't quite stay up.  If you don't need them and the hood stays up, great!  If your car came with them, re-use them or any that are included if I have them in the pictures.

Pictured is what you will receive.

VW Race Touareg 3 (2011) first pictures

Fri, 20 Aug 2010

You might usually associate the Volkswagen Touareg with school-run mums whose furthest foray off-road is up the kerb and onto a wet field – this is something different, this is the new VW Race Touareg 3. That there is, and it’s the Race Touareg 2 that’s taken the chequered flag at the last two Dakar rallies, becoming the first diesel-powered winner in 2009. And after 2010’s 1-2-3 finish, the VW board decided it was onto a good thing and commissioned Volkswagen Motorsport to update its Touareg racer for the January 2011 race.
