They're great for use on lightweight formula, open wheel, dirt track, and drag race cars because they don't require continuous thermal cycling or cooling periods. Their lightweight design greatly reduces rotating mass and unsprung weight. Each rotor is ground for flatness and is plated with a protective coating. They're available in both solid and cross-drilled designs.

Concept Car of the Week: AMC Amitron (1967)

    Fri, 13 Dec 2013

While the American auto industry spent most of the late ‘60s creating huge barges powered by monstrous engines with loud decals on disco paint jobs, AMC believed in the future of compact cars, fuel economy, and go-faster stripes. Designed under Richard Teague's supervision, the quirky Amitron was unveiled in 1967 in a hotel in Detroit. Measuring less than 2,200mm long, it is 350mm shorter than a Smart Fortwo and its wide track gave room for three passengers seating abreast.

    Nissan tests self-cleaning paint

    Fri, 25 Apr 2014

Well that took long enough. Nanotechnology is here, and Nissan is reportedly using it in the paint on its little Versa Note hatchback. We would have started on something a little more exciting, like the hard-to-care-for matte finish on the GT-R's rear spoiler, but that's just us.

Lexus RX450h hybrid - 2012's facelift goes on sale

    Mon, 21 May 2012

Lexus has refreshed its RX premium off-roader with a slew of new gadgets, a facelifted snout, a few small engineering upgrades and extra equipment. Sold in the UK only as the RX450h hybrid, you'll spot the new 2012 edition by the addition of the Lexus 'spindle' grille, as seen on recent concept cars such as the LF-LC from Detroit 2012. The rear lamps are redesigned, too, although if you blink you may indeed actually miss them.
