New car sales hit ten year high – Toyota Yaris breaks in to top 10

                                                                          Sat, 05 Apr 2014

The Toyota Yaris accounted for over 20% of hybrid sales in March 2014 We’ve got used to new car sales (well, new car registrations) hitting new highs month after month, but March 2014 managed to top even the recent levels with the highest monthly registrations in a decade. March is normally the year’s highest new car month with the ‘year’ plate change coming in, with almost 20 per cent of cars registered in that month alone (it used to be August when  there was just one plate change a year) and 2014 saw a jump of nearly 18 per cent over 2013, and the highest total since March 2014. Still sitting atop the list is the Ford Fiesta (25,753) with more than 50 per cent more sales than the second place Ford Focus (16,860), with the usual suspects taking up the rest of the top ten (full top ten sales for March 2014 below).

Toyota Auris Hybrid emissions cut to 84g/km

                                                                          Tue, 14 May 2013

We’ve long believed that car makers better serve their customers by offering ‘Green’ options as add-ons to regular car models, and adding the hybrid option from the Prius to the Auris has seen Auris sales climb steeply whilst Prius sales drop off. There’s only so many buyers who want to shout their green halo from the rooftops, so incorporating green technologies in the regular range opens up far more possibilities for a sale. Now, with the Auris Hybrid sales growing by 69 per cent year on year in the UK, Toyota has had a play to make the Auris Hybrid even more efficient.

Aston Martin Sale: Mahindra & Investindustrial front runners

                                                                          Sun, 25 Nov 2012

It seems the battle to take a stake in Aston Martin has come down to a battle between Mahindra & Mahindra and Investindustrial. After reporting more than a year ago that Aston Martin urgently needed a new owner, or major investor, if it is to survive, it became clear earlier this month that Aston Martin was ready to acknowledge that need as the Kuwait Investment Dar starting seeking a buyer for the majority of its majority stake in AML. So far we’ve had Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata (owners of Jaguar Land Rover), Toyota and unnamed Chinese investors in the frame, but it seems the race to take a big chunk of Aston Martin Lagonda has come down to just two – Mahindra and Investindustrial.
