Mercedes-Benz used the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed as the backdrop for the premiere of the definitive production version of its stylish new CLS shooting brake in Sussex, England. Set to go on sale across Europe in October, the new sporting wagon was given a production go-ahead by Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche following positive reaction to the earlier E-class-based ConceptFascination prototype car unveiled at the 2008 Paris motor show and the subsequent CLS shooting brake show car wheeled out at the 2010 Beijing motor show. The 2014 Mercedes S-Class' interior has been revealed ahead of its debut at next week's New York Auto Show. The overall interior architecture is a clear evolution of the current car's, with a wave-form IP and a separate binnacle but, as you would expect from the latest generation of a car famous for its pioneering tech, it hosts a vast array of electronic innovations. The all-digital gauge pack and 12.3-inch high-resolution center display features Splitview dual-display technology and the fifth-generation Comand system powered by an Intel Atom processor, controlled by a rotary dial.
