Mercedes’ F125 concept might preview a hydrogen future for the automobile, but alongside this tech-laden show car Benz boss Dr Zetsche (with a little help from Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg) also unveiled a hardcore race car. It’s the Mercedes C-class Coupe AMG DTM, which will compete in next season’s Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters – think touring car, only with 4.0-litre V8s and rear-wheel drive chassis. Pininfarina takeover would boost Magna expertise in key areas

Magna International Inc. would become a stronger competitor for design and development jobs if it takes over struggling car styling and engineering firm Pininfarina S.p.A., executives say. “Magna badly needs design competence, and Pininfarina has top staff,” said Paolo Tumminelli, CEO of Goodbrands GmbH, a brand and marketing consultancy based in Cologne, Germany.

The Audi Sport Quattro Concept will be shown at Frankfurt as a spiritual successor to the 1980s rallying legend. This time, the road-going version can muster 0-62mph in a stonking 3.7sec and top 189mph thanks to its 690bhp drivetrain.  Haven’t we seen an Audi Quattro Concept before? Yes – but this is a different take on the 2010 Quattro concept, and may make it into showrooms.
