FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

-Are these exactly like the old bolts?-

Yes and no. We do give you some of the phillips head engine case bolts like your originals....but we also give you the reduced head flange bolts that are found on the cases etc of late model motorcycles. Many people prefer the modern bolts due to the fact they dont strip easily like the original phillips head screws. They are strong (10.9 grade) and meet or exceed the factory specs.

These 10.9 grade bolts are very strong, heat treated fasteners and wont strip out or round off like cheaper 8.8 grade bolts offered by other companies. 

These are all heat treated and zinc plated to look great, resist corrosion, and last the life of your motorcycle. They are stronger and lighter than the stainless steel bolts being offered by other companies as well.

 

-Can I find these at a local hardware store?-

As most of us know from experience, OEM style fasteners are not available at our local hardware stores. The metric hex bolts found at Ace or Lowes are not the same.

These fasteners are only found at the cycle dealerships and expensive to purchase on an individual basis. 

It's nice to have them on hand, right when you or your riding buddies need them.

 

-What about OEM style nuts?-

Specbolt uses OEM type flange nuts. You get a generous assortment flange nuts in M6, M8, and M10 sizes. You also get nylock nuts inM5, M6, M8, and M10 sizes.

 

-What about metric washers?-

 

Washers are important for most everything including plastic bodywork, engine, and exhaust mounts. We include a nice varity of the most commonly found washers used on your bike.

 

-Will I get any sealing washers?-

Our vintage bike kits dont require sealing washers but we do include them anyway in case you need them for another project. They are free!!!

 

-What if I have aftermarket parts on my bike?- 

Specbolt kits include some additional sizes to fit some of the aftermarket items on your bike as well...such as tripleclamps etc... If you want to be sure to get the right size fasteners for your specific aftermarket part...just ask. We strive to get you everything you need.

-Will I get every nut and bolt found on my bike? What isn't included?-

This kit is designed as a maintenance only kit and is a great assortment of the most commonly used fasteners found all over your bike. It is not a full on restoration kit. It doesn't include shock or suspension/linkage bolts, axles/axle nuts, swingarm bolt, and no case bolts longer than 45mm.

In some cases we can supply shock bolts for your vintage bike. Just give us a call and be prepared to give us the bolt sizes you require. We love to accomidate special requests from our Vintage Guys!!!

-What if I want to customize my kit or request more of a certain type of fastener?- 

Not a problem...If you have any special needs or want to request certain sizes just send me an email or call me.  I will do my best to create a custom kit with your specific needs in mind.

This reduction in NO2 is achieved by spraying 'AdBlue', an aqueous urea solution, into the exhaust system in precisely metered quantities to convert the nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water, so even if it looks like it should, it shouldn't smell fishy...

Ford is joining Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche and a few boutique makers with its 2013 Shelby Mustang GT500. It's not so easy to get 662 hp down to the ground successfully, so Ford does it for you with overclocked computers and precise brake, throttle and clutch control.
