Toyota to recall 1.1 million Corolla, Matrix models prone to stalling

Toyota Motor Corp. today issued a recall of 1.1 million Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles from the 2005-08 model years after more than 1,000 complaints of stalling. In a statement, Toyota said it was addressing some engine control modules that may have been improperly made.

Set to go on sale across Europe in October, the new sporting wagon was given a production go-ahead by Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche following positive reaction to the earlier E-class-based ConceptFascination prototype car unveiled at the 2008 Paris motor show and the subsequent CLS shooting brake show car wheeled out at the 2010 Beijing motor show. Audi Allroad goes e-tron with Detroit concept

Audi introduced its Allroad shooting brake concept at the Detroit auto show on Monday. The plug-in hybrid brings a total output of 408 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque from three power sources, an engine and two electric motors. The transversely mounted 2.0-liter TFSI engine provides 292 hp with help from its turbocharger.
