Opel product chief Weber quits to take job with yet-unnamed rival

Frank Weber, the German-born engineer who helped lead development of the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera hybrids, is leaving General Motors' Opel unit to work for an as-yet unnamed competitor. Weber has been Opel's product chief since November 2009. His departure was reported Thursday by Automotive News Europe and confirmed by company sources.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S teased for Paris The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV may not be perfect, but it offers something no other car maker is able to offer at the moment – a tax-efficient plug-in hybrid SUV/Crossover for the same money as a conventionally-powered car. And it looks like Mitsubishi are planning to make the Outlander PHEV even more appealing. We have the first photos of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S – which is heading for a debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show – and as far as we can tell this is an upmarket Outlander PHEV with cosmetic tweaks and more toys.

The Mini E is by no means a finished car; it is in fact a prototype which BMW has decided they will rush forward by letting motorists do the real-world testing. I appreciate the logic in this, but I’m still far from convinced that EVs are the way forward. Mini E Hits Europe It’s hard to see how BMW can lose on this.
