Italian design house Zagato has announced the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale, a road-going follow-up to 2010's TZ3 Corsa racing car concept which won Concept of the Year honours at the Villa del'Este Concours last May. Zagato will build nine TZ3 Stradales, meaning a total of 10 TZ3s will help celebrate Alfa Romeo's centennary. Ford prototype seat measures your heart rate

Ford continues its foray into health and wellness with a car that can monitor the driver's heart activity. Research engineers in Germany have developed a prototype seat with six sensors that can monitor the heart's electric impulses through clothes and give an early warning as to whether a driver should seek medical attention because of irregularities. Drivers who have cardiovascular disease are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car accident.

Rear-end collisions increasing, says study

REAR-END shunts on the road are getting more common despite the advance of new anti-crash technology, according to new research by accident management firm Accident Exchange. Rear-end shunts – when one car drives into the back of another – have risen by 7% in the last three years as a proportion of all accidents. Each accident causes damage costing an average of £2,000 to repair.
