Motor industry backs EU membership
Thu, 03 Apr 2014MOTOR MANUFACTURERS have given strong backing for the UK staying in the European Union, citing benefits including business links and free movement of labour. A survey by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showed that 92% of automotive firms believed that staying in the EU would be best for their business, although most wanted to see reforms. The SMMT said its study showed how EU membership benefited the industry, such as access to a single market and funding for research and development.

As you can’t have failed to notice, with a few exceptions from Italy, big cylinder engines are on the way out in favour of more efficient, and more frugal, forced induction engines with fewer cylinders. But it’s starting to look like Mercedes may be bucking the trend with slightly surprising plans to take a V12 version of the new SL to the New York Auto Show next month – the Mercedes SL 65 AMG.
Chrysler drops lifetime powertrain warranty, eases transfers
Thu, 20 Aug 2009Chrysler Group is abandoning its lifetime powertrain warranty in favor of five-year, 100,000-mile coverage that's more easily transferred to a new owner. Spokesman Rick Deneau said the switch was made after discussions with its dealer council. The change is effective on all 2010 model-year vehicles.
