I recently purchased a lot of 327 engines ranging from 1962-1968 and a small collection of parts.

I purchased this entire lot from a long time friend's wife. He has passed on, so no way to ask him any info, but his wife was pretty much up on what the engines came out of and if they ran or not and so on. He had tags on everything and was very organized. I spent the entire day there and we talked a lot while loading the engines and parts.

She said this engine came out of a red Caprice (yes she remembered the color) from what I could make out on the tag looked like Caprice or Camaro. I could only read the first couple of letters. (tag being 20+ years old). she said it was a good running engine and was pulled because the car was crashed. I don't have anyway to know for sure. but from what I can see and by turning the engine by hand, under valve covers is fairly clean, carb is clean in the throttle bores, no coolant in the oil, has compression, and no tight spots.  I would bet this is true.

As you can see by my photos, this is a nearly complete 1968 327 that was removed many years ago and properly stored indoors.   The engine shows no signs of any cracks, damage or previous repairs. Even though the engine has sat for years, it still spins right over and has compression. I would not recommend installing this engine in the state it is in. It will need at the least a good inspection, cleaning, and gasket set. If you have read this far you get the idea, yes I would bet it would run just as it sits but why take the chance of destroying a rare engine. if you purchase this engine and would like it rebuilt and turn key at a reasonable cost I can do that also.

The casting number on the back of the block is 3914678 and the date is B 29 8. (Feb. 29, 1968)

The pad on the left front of the block is stamped VO302HM.

The DRIVER side cylinder head is dated B 27 8 (Feb. 27, 1968)

The PASSENGER side is dated B 26 8. (Feb. 26, 1968)

Both heads have casting number 3917293.

The intake manifold has casting number 3919803 GM5 R and dated B 20 8 (Feb. 20, 1968)

Carburetor is not stamped.

Distributor is casting number 1111150 and dated 8 B 29 (Feb. 29, 1968

The finished motor was hand stamped V0302HM (March 2nd)

As before mentioned, the motor spins freely and appears to have never been apart.

What you see photographed is exactly what I am offering for sale. (valve cover bolts and hold downs are included.)(engine cradle is not.)

From what I understand, this one-year-only medium journal 1968 engine is correct for Impala, Camaro, Chevelle, Corvette, Caprice?

If you have been searching for a nice complete original numbers matching 327 engine that is properly dated for your project here is your opportunity.

I would prefer the winning bidder to pick this engine up here in East Alton, IL, 62024 or if need be, I will strap it to a skid and ship it via truck lines to your destination at your expense.

Alternate payment methods such as cash are highly recommended and gladly accepted. Thank you for spending the time to look and good luck!

IF IT DOES NOT SELL IT WILL BE PARTED OUT.

The Skoda CitiGo – the Skoda version of the VW up! – launches this week in the UK with a replica Stonehenge made of scrap cars. 2012 BMW 1-Series – it’s official

Sun, 05 Jun 2011

2012 BMW 1-Series - now from BMW When we reported that the 2012 BMW 1 Series had leaked out yesterday, we did say it wouldn’t take long for BMW to release details officially, especially as there were so many official photos of the 2012 1-Series. In the end it took all of 24 hours for BMW to get it together and send us details, which lets us fill in the gaps from yesterday on detail, although there’s really nothing new on the photo front. We know from yesterday that the 2012 BMW 1-Series is bigger than the outgoing car, and that the styling, particularly on the nose, is a more confident statement than before.

Porsche uses phone-formatted bar codes to connect with customers

Tue, 12 Jul 2011

Porsche is harnessing the power of smartphones, using Microsoft Tag bar codes to provide dealership customers with unique information about the cars they're looking at. Buyers can scan the square stickers with a properly equipped phone, and the application will take them to dedicated microsites where they can see stats, videos and pictures of the car, along with audio clips of a flat-six engine revving up. Through the microsite, buyers can provide contact info for a follow-up call from Porsche salespeople.
