Here's a very nice refinished used 1970 Dodge Challenger underside of hood safety catch, also known as a secondary hood latch. Has been bead blasted clean and painted a silver color by a previous owner. Has just a little wear to the paint finish where bottom hook of catch rubbed against the hood latch support member it catches on, and has to be released from to open the hood. Piece pivots nicely and has a good spring-loaded action. Nothing bent, worn, or altered. Not rusty or pitted at all. Must have been a very clean piece before painting. Hard to find, as this was a one-year only style piece, due to the unique 1970 Challenger grille.

Up for your auction bids is this very nice refinished original used 1970 Dodge Challenger hood safety catch, also known as a secondary hood latch.  This mounts underneath the front center of hood, and prevents hood from flying up if the primary hood latch doesn't latch, or if your hood pins don't get pinned --if that is your main hood latch.  A very important piece at those critical times!  This catch is Mopar part #2999078.  It is stamped with a date code on it for the 259th day of 1969 (see close- up picture #4 of date code).  It was used on only the 1970-model year Challenger flat, rallye, or shaker hoods, due to the unique deep-set-in grille that 1970 Challengers used.  Will not work on other year Challengers, TA Challengers with fiberglass hoods, or any year E-body Cuda / Barracudas.

Featured 1970 Challenger hood safety catch latch is nice and clean and straight.  No damages, wear, or alterations.  Works well.  Has a nice spring and nice bolt holes. A previous owner had bead blasted this clean and then painted it a silver color.  There are no pits on this.  Must have been very clean metal when blasted clean!  The silver finish is overall good, but has just a little wear where it rubs when hood is closed and it slides into the latch tray area below it.

Don't miss this hard to find one- year-only item at my realistic opening bid price here.  Put in those good bids today.  My last one of these. Satisfaction warranty, as always on my parts.  Thanks for stopping in to look and bid!

Bentley SUV: Redesign already under way

Sat, 10 Mar 2012

Bentley SUV already being re-thought It seems the reception for the EXP 9 F – the Bentley SUV ‘Truck’ – has already got Bentley designers back to the drawing board for a redesign. The Bentley SUV at Geneva – the EXP 9 F Concept – was a real let-down. It was as if Bentley’s designers had been given a single line brief from history and tasked to make Ettore Bugatti’s criticism of Bentleys as ‘The World’s fastest trucks’ come to life.
