First Sight: Divine DS concept

To mark 100 days since the announcement that DS was to become a brand of its own, separate from Citroën, it has created the Divine DS concept – a self-styled manifesto for the new marque. We traveled to Citroën's DS' design center on the southern outskirts of Paris to be amongst the first to see this statement of intent and speak to the people behind its creation. New recalls hit 2.7 million GM vehicles, from Corvettes to Saturns

General Motors is recalling 2.7 million U.S. cars and trucks for problems ranging from flawed taillamps and windshield wipers to brake problems, in an escalation of the safety crisis that has enveloped the company for months. GM said today it expects to book up to $200 million in charges in the second quarter to cover the cost of recalls during the period.

VW developing 10-speed transmission to save fuel

Volkswagen is developing a 10-speed dual-clutch transmission to help reduce fuel consumption in its vehicles, CEO Martin Winterkorn said. The transmission is one of a number of drivetrain technologies that the automaker is focusing on for the mid- and long term, he said. Others include plug-in hybrids and a high performance diesel engine.
