Fall in drug-driving admissions

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

THE NUMBER of motorists admitting to drug-driving is falling, according to Government figures. Just 0.5% of motorists said they had driven under the influence of drugs during the 2012/13 financial year compared with 1% who owned up to this offence during 2011/12. Based on a survey by the Office for National Statistics, the figures also showed that 6.4% of motorists had admitted drink-driving at least once in 2012/13 compared with 7.4% in 2011/12.

Are JLR about to announce the new small Jaguar?

Fri, 20 Jul 2012

Jaguar has reached agreement with unions at Castle Bromwich to increase productivity and look set to announce a new Jaguar. (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});Back in May we reported that Jaguar had failed to reach agreement with Unions at castle Bromwich over working practices aimed to increase production, but today agreement has been reached and we’re expecting an announcement shortly from JLR. We know that the new working practices – which involved compulsory Saturday shifts – were vital to Jaguar to get the new F-Type out of the door when it launches in 2013, but this morning both BBC and ITV are reporting that Jaguar are about to announce the production of two new models at Castle Bromwich.

Audi S1 at Paris

Sat, 11 Sep 2010

The Audi S1 will have a Paris Launch (A1 Wörthersee Concept pictured) (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({}); It’s getting on for a year since we reported that – despite some saying it wouldn’t happen – Audi were planning at least a warm version of the A1 and had on the drawing board the Audi S1 to take on the MINI Cooper. So it’s not a shock that we hear Audi are planning on bring the S1 along to Paris for a reveal before getting the S1 on the roads by the second quarter of 2011. Expect the usual Audi S bits in the mix  - bigger wheels, fettled suspension, beefed-up brakes, body kit – and power in the S1 to come from the S/C turbo 1.4 TSI found in the VW Polo GTI, although the S1 may just get a tweaked version of the engine as befits its higher standing in the VW hierarchy with a bit more than the 178 horses the Polo GTI manages.
