McLaren P1 gets 903bhp
Wed, 20 Feb 2013McLaren has revealed that their new supercar – the McLaren P1 – will deliver 903bhp and have emissions below 200g/km. The McLaren P1 will get 727bhp from its 3.8 litre V8 with an additional 176bhp coming from an electric motor for a combined power delivery of 903bhp, with the V8 contributing 531lb/ft of torque and the electric motor an instant 192lb/ft for a combined torque of 664lb/ft at 4000rpm. The boost from the electric motor is instantly available at the flick of a button on the steering wheel – McLaren call itĀ Instant Power Assist System (IPAS) – which instantly throws more additional power to aid the McLaren’s V8 than a pair of Fiestas can manage.
Evanta Barchetta gets revealed at Goodwood Revival
Sat, 13 Sep 2014Evanta Barchetta gets revealed at Goodwood Revival There’s definitely an appetite for properly built, low-run retro sports cars – from proper roadsters to GTs like the David Brown’s Speedback – so the arrival of the Evanta Barchetta at the Goodwood Revival, looking like a properly sorted (and built) retro-styled Roadster, should be greeted with enthusiasm, rather than moans about ‘Garden Shed’ cars. That’s because the Evanta Barchetta is the result of a collaboration between Afzil Kahn – he of Bradford’s Kahn Design – and Evanta’s Ant Anstead, with low volume experience and expertise coming from Ant’s Evanta and design and engineering from Kahn. So it should be properly sorted.
2013 Belgian Grand Prix: Hamilton pole for Mercedes
Sat, 24 Aug 2013Lewis Hamilton (pictured) takes pole for Mercedes in the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix The F1 circus returns this week after its summer holidays, but it’s business as usual for Lewis Hamilton after a cracking lap in final qualifying saw him take pole position for tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix atĀ Spa-Francorchamps. For a while it looked like Force India’s Paul di Resta would score his first ever pole as he took to final qualifying with his car on intermediate tyres whilst all the rest started on dry tyres. As the rain started to fall, di Resta put in a time that looked unbeatable as the rest of the final qualifiers struggled to put their power down.
