EV maker Coda trims staff

Not much more could go wrong for electric-car maker Coda, which has struggled to sell its four-door EV in the United States since officially launching it here in March. But Web reports, first seen at www.plugincars.com, say the company laid off 50 employees, or 15 percent of its workforce, last week, mostly in the sales and marketing departments. Efforts by Autoweek to contact Coda have not been successful.

Hyundai ix35 – UK details

The Hyundai ix35 will launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show But now we have more Euro details from Hyundai on the ix35 which will officially launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. The new ix35 is longer and wider than the outgoing Tucson but is actually 20mm lower, although headroom is unaffected. The low-slung BMW X6 again uses X5 mechanicals, but wrapped in a squashed, coupe-influenced silhouette. The X6 is a niche product in the UK, selling some 1700 in 2013, around a third of X5 volumes in a good year.
