Thu, 23 Jul 2009Salon Prive 2009 - a verygood 'do' And it really is. Yes, the price of entry is a somewhat eye-watering £125-200 (depending on when you go). Which does seem a hell of a lot of money for a car show.
One Lap of the Web: A wiseguy in a Cadillac
Fri, 02 May 2014-- Not many car reviews feature a shot-for-shot remake of "Goodfellas." (We're still banking on Ford's re-introduction of the Crown Victoria for a shot-for-shot remake of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage.") One of GM's many H-Body cars, the Pioneer -- named after the probe, not the Probe -- carried an innovative version of GM's venerable "Iron Duke": it had both a carburetor and throttle-body fuel injection, which undoubtedly added needless complexity that could have better served the real Rocket Division, Oldsmobile.
Land Rover confirms end of Defender production
Thu, 10 Oct 2013It's been all but a foregone conclusion for some time now, but Land Rover has confirmed to our sister publication Automotive News Europe that the aging Defender won't live to see 2020. Originally conceived as an agricultural machine, the first Land Rover prototype used scavenged Willys Jeep bits left over from World War II. American kids of a certain age may have been captivated by the Land Rover's mystique while watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom back in the '70s.
