Whilst we’re busy keeping a watchful eye out for the arrival of the new Aston Martin DBS at the  Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este this weekend, up pops a one-off concept from event sponsors BMW – the BMW Zagato Coupe. Looking like a BMW Z4 with Italian panache in spades (which is what we expect it to be under the skin – BMW aren’t saying) it looks like Aston Martin will have extra competition in the Concept Car category this weekend from BMW with the Zagato Coupe.

Petrol cars twice as likely to fail MOT on emissions

The latest MOT test data shows that 26.2% of all cars tested fail on excess exhaust emissions – and surprisingly petrol cars fail more than twice as often as diesels in this part of the annual roadworthiness test. According to the official Vehicle Operator and Standard Agency (VOSA) figures, which cover all of 2010 and the first nine months of 2011, 9.7% of petrol cars failed to meet MOT emissions standards compared to just 3.9% of diesels. Who's Where: Nicolas Huet named PATAC exterior design director

Nicholas Huet has joined PATAC as exterior design director. Based in Shanghai, he will report directly to design director Holt Ware. French-born Huet, who spent 20 years at BMW as a designer, is in charge of the exterior PATAC design department, working on Chinese-specific programs as well as GM Global programs.
