All-electric Nissan trialled in London

THE CITY OF LONDON Corporation has completed a successful trial of the 100% electric Nissan e-NV200 van as part of efforts to meet the highest levels of environmental responsibility across all areas of its operations. After a similarly successful trial of the 100% electric Nissan LEAF earlier this year, Nissan offered the City of London Corporation the chance to try the e-NV200. The City Corporation – the local authority services provider for the ‘Square Mile’ – supports and promotes the City as the world’s leading international financial centre.

Hennessey readies 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray package with 1,000 hp

The 2014 Corvette Stingray made its world debut at the Detroit auto show less than two months ago, but Texas tuner John Hennessey is already working on upgrades. Hennessey Performance plans to offer upgrades for both the C7 coupe and the C7 convertible. Supercharged systems will bring output to 700 hp and higher-priced twin-turbo setups push power to anywhere from 800 hp-1,000 hp.

Report: Gasoline engine has big bang for the fuel-economy buck

A government report says improving the gasoline engine will yield huge gains for the consumer and the environment as automakers consider ways to improve fuel economy over the next 14 years. The Obama administration's technical assessment looked at four technology scenarios by which automakers might attain suggested CAFE goals of 47 to 62 mpg for cars and light trucks by 2025. The scenarios differed by the portion of an automaker's fleet that was accounted for by electrics, hybrid electrics and plug-in hybrid electrics.
