I have a set of chrome plated 22” Asanti AF117 multi-piece forged aluminum wheels and Pirelli Scorpion tires for sale that were removed from a 2009 Supercharged Range Rover.   These wheels were designed for the Range Rover (both full size and Sport version) but because of the bolt pattern, offset, and hub diameter of 72.56mm will also fit the BMW X5 prior to 2008.   Please bid with confidence as eBay has qualified me as an "ID verified" eBay member.   A nice thing about upgrading to a 22” wheel as opposed to a 24” is that you get the benefit of a larger wheel but will not sacrifice the ride quality as you would with a 24” wheel.

Structurally the wheels are in great shape and are straight but cosmetically there are some curb scrapes.    The wheels are wrapped with Pirelli zero Scorpion tires (285/35/22) and I have pictured the front and then rear tread pics respectively.   We briefly put these onto another car but the the right rear tire rubbed so we took them off.  The one tire has rub marks on the outside of the tire.   The wheels will be shipped FedEx Ground (not Freight) and will be between $40 and $50 per wheel, depending on your location. I will ship worldwide but shipping will be more.  If you need the wheels sooner, please contact me.  If you want to stop by to see them, please contact me.  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Rain doesn't dampen spirits at Orphan Car Show

Wed, 28 Sep 2011

With rain falling as the show cars arrived, organizers worried that moving the 15th-annual Ypsilanti Orphan Car Show from its original June weekend to late September wasn't going to work out after all. It was rescheduled last year after heavy rain in June and participants voted to make the change permanent. Fortunately, the rain blew over before the gates opened to spectators and Sunday turned out to be as nice a day as Saturday, when more than 30 entrants enjoyed a tour to view the extensive Nash collection that Ken and Mary Ann Havekost have accumulated in Monroe, Mich.

Ford eyes dandelions as sustainable alternative to synthetic rubber

Tue, 17 May 2011

Ford, in conjunction with Ohio State University, is turning to the humble garden weed as sustainable resource, researching the dandelion's potential use as an alternative to synthetic rubber. While the automaker already makes considerable use of sustainable materials in its vehicles – such as soy foam seat cushions and straw-filled plastic for interior trim – this latest discovery opens up a wealth of new possibilities for automotive applications. According to research conducted by Ford, a milky-white substance that is found in certain dandelion roots can produce a sustainable rubber that could be used to create plastic parts for vehicle interiors.

Lexus LF-CC

Mon, 17 Sep 2012

Lexus is set to debut the LF-CC mid-size coupe concept at next week's Paris motor show that will give us a glimpse of the design and technology ideas that will influence the brand's future models. The LF-CC shares a lot of the same design cues featured on the LF-LC 2+2 sports coupe concept seen in Detroit in January, not least the new spindle-shaped grille that are found on all new Lexus models. It is set in a deep, metal-finish surround and is framed by the hood lip, deep lower spoiler and the projecting front wing tips – this is designed to give it a 3D look.
