265 283 Early Design "A O R" 6 1/4" Crankshaft Damper Timing Cover 150 210 Belair Sedan Delivery Corvette.

OEM part in original paint with lots of patina. Some minor pitting at top behind water pump area. Timing tab intact and hash marks are clear. This is one of the original designs accommodating a crank damper (back in the day when all crankshafts were of the forged variety), as opposed to a harmonic balancer. Commonly found on early small blocks through approximately 1964, after which Chevy began building some small blocks with nodular iron crankshafts. Will not work with any OEM harmonic balancers without modification. Look the pictures over. What you see is what you get.

Carlos Ghosn's automaker mantra: Go big or you'll go away

Tue, 25 May 2010

Size matters in auto company survival, Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn told an audience in Detroit on Tuesday. To cope with the escalating costs and scope of a global industry, successful automakers must complete a trifecta--be able to compete in every technology, every market and every segment, Ghosn said during a luncheon speech at the Detroit Economic Club “No 3 million-unit carmaker can make it,” Ghosn said, explaining why his Renault-Nissan alliance forged an alliance with Germany's Daimler AG. Competency in one or two of the three skills is not enough, and only very large companies can afford all three, he said.

Concept Car of the Week: AMC Amitron (1967)

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

While the American auto industry spent most of the late ‘60s creating huge barges powered by monstrous engines with loud decals on disco paint jobs, AMC believed in the future of compact cars, fuel economy, and go-faster stripes. Designed under Richard Teague's supervision, the quirky Amitron was unveiled in 1967 in a hotel in Detroit. Measuring less than 2,200mm long, it is 350mm shorter than a Smart Fortwo and its wide track gave room for three passengers seating abreast.

New BMW M3 and M4 engine secrets laid bare

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

BMW's M division has lifted the veil of secrecy on the inline six-cylinder engine bound for its upcoming M3 sedan and new-to-the-range M4 coupe and convertible, revealing a potent twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter direct injection gasoline unit that produces an official 424 hp at 7,500 rpm and what officials describe as "significantly more than 369 lb-ft" of torque. The newly developed engine, known under the internal codename S55 B30, shares its 84.0 mm bore and 89.6 mm stroke with BMW's standard turbocharged 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder direct-injection gasoline mill, the M55 used across the German car maker's lineup, endowing the aluminum block unit with an overall swept volume of 2,979 cc. This represents a sizeable 990 cc reduction on the engine BMW's M division's new unit replaces, the S65.
