Mazda opens new plant in Salamanca, Mexico
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Mazda Motor Corp. chairman Takashi Yamanouchi opened the company's new small-car assembly plant in Mexico today, calling it the company's "most important global strategic base." The factory, which will produce up to 230,000 vehicles each year, is a cornerstone of the structural reform plan "upon which the very future of company hinges," Yamanouchi said in remarks prepared for the opening ceremony. "Mazda's Structural Reform Plan, upon which the very future of the company hinges, positions this plant as our most important global strategic base," Yamanouchi said of the factory, which is about three hours northwest of Mexico City in Guanajuato State.

The JaguarRSR XKR GT2 will compete at La Sarthe in summer 2010 to mark Jaguar's 75th anniversary of Le Mans competition. Jaguar won seven times at Le Mans between 1951 and 1990, and 20 years later the British marque returns on 12 June.

And it’s taken its toll on Saab boss Jan Åke Jonsson. It’s been announced that – after nearly 40 years with Saab – 59-year old Jan Åke will step down from his job in May and hand the reins over – temporarily – to Spyker’s Victor Muller until a replacement can be found.
