38MM UNIVERSAL EXTERNAL 2-BOLT WASTEGATE

An external wastegate regulates the maximum boost pressure within a turbocharged system to match the power required for a given level of boost. It does so by bypassing a portion of exhaust flow into the exhaust system, thus reducing the power driving the turbine.

The advantage of an external wastegate is that the bypassed exhaust is diverted further downstream of the turbine, which tends to improve the turbine’s performance. Moreover, it allows a smaller A/R turbine housing, reducing the spool time needed by the turbo to produce boost.

Who the hell is Rory Carroll, and what is he doing to your autoweek.com?

Mon, 19 Mar 2012

My name is Rory Carroll, and as of this week, my full-time job is to be hopelessly obsessed with cars, and to share that obsession with you, the readers of autoweek.com. For whatever reason, I have more or less always believed that making a career writing about cars wasn't quite a realistic-enough option to pursue. It made a lot more sense to go to law school, (or in my case put law school off while getting wrapped up in the sometimes-exciting world of politics).

First the tax disc, now your driving licence, as government plans to put driving records online are set to make the paper counterpart licence obsolete – reducing your car insurance premium in the process. By creating an online record that insurance companies can easily check, ministers and the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) expect insurance costs to fall, as insurers will be able to exactly analyse risk rather than hedging their bets. On Bing: see pictures of the counterpart driving licence Tax disc to be scrapped after 93 years At present it’s tediously time consuming for car insurance companies to check motorists’ driving records with the DVLA, which means most take people at their word about the number of penalty points they have.
