About Us

Custom Splice was started in Stillwater, Oklahoma in September of 2005 by Todd Stauffer and Erin LeGrand. Todd had the idea for the company after some not-so-pleasant experiences with steel cable, and the issues of dealing with standard-length ropes. The business started with 2 diameters of AmSteel synthetic rope and a tape measure. Soon after the business started, Todd and Erin progressed into various rope diameters, honing in on specialty lengths and developing rapport with customers around the world. Now located in Lawrence, Kansas, Custom Splice has 10 diameters of rope – often available in many different colors – with options of hooks, fairleads, specialty thimbles and chaff guards.

First Sight: BMW Zagato Coupé

Thu, 31 May 2012

"I've been looking for a way to collaborate with Zagato and Nori [Norihiko Harada, Chief Designer Zagato] for around 20 years," explains Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design as we stand in the shadow of the magnificent Villa Erba. "Last year at this event we had a conversation and decided that it was the right time to do something." BMW and Zagato both have history associated with the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este – Europe's most glamorous car show – yet until last weekend the two illustrious names had never crossed paths. The BMW Zagato Coupé marks the first project between the two and the first Italian-designed car to wear the blue and white propeller since the 2003 Bertone Birusa.

For the first eight months of the year, passenger car sales were down 5.2% to 7.84 million compared with the same period last year, the European Auto Manufacturers' Association said - the lowest January-August figure since the group started keeping records in 1990. New car registrations in August fell five per cent from a year ago to 653,872.

2011 Chevrolet Volt faces toughest test--consumers

Thu, 25 Nov 2010

Scientists, journalists and a slew of other alleged experts have all weighed in on the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, and now the only verdict that truly matters--the public's--will be rendered. General Motors said 6,348 consumers have taken the extended-range car for a spin during a 12-city “Volt Unplugged Tour,” and not surprisingly, GM's reviewers like it. Still, initial feedback does appear to be truly positive.
