Mitsubishi has no less than three future-reaching concept cars on display at Tokyo 2013, and this is the biggest of all of them. It’s called the Concept GC-PHEV, and amongst many other things gives us a sneak peak at current thinking for the next-generation Mitsubishi Shogun. However, it also features a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 and a plug-in electric hybrid system, and a cabin with more touchscreens than your local electronics emporium.

The 2012 Paris Mondial de l'Automobile will not be remembered as a classic. When the Big Book of the Paris Motor Show is published, 2012 may be consigned to no more than a side note as the show that marked what a dire situation the European car industry was once in. The 2011 BMW M5 caught on video near the Nurburgring Wonderful power plant though the V10 is, in these economy and emissions conscience times it is a pragmatic move by BMW to use the 4.4 litre V8 already seen in the X5M and X6M in the next generation M5. It seems almost certain if you watch this video – especially at around 3:15 where you can hear the turbos quite clearly – that forced induction is the route BMW are taking. But it seems likely that the M5 will get a few more horses than others in the BMW range using the same powerplant.
