Subaru chose the Bologna Motor Show for the debut of the UK-spec WRX STi, which unlike the 2.0-litre Japanese model we’ve driven, uses a 2.5-litre engine. It’s still a flat-four ‘boxer’, but emission regulations, and some premium pride, mean the larger capacity engine continues in the UK.

The Bluebird DC50 (pictured) is an electric supercar to celebrate Campbell world speed records Don Wales has an impressive family tree – certainly when it comes to speed – with Sir Malcolm Campbell his grandfather and Donald Campbell his uncle. So it’s no big surprise that Don is plotting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Donald Campbell’s land and water world speed records in 2014 with a new, limited edition supercar, taking time out from making Bluebirds to break the electric land speed record. But the anniversary is in 2014, so Campbell junior has decided that his celebratory supercar – the Bluebird DC50 – will be an electric supercar rather than an ICE one.

Ferrari ramps up engine-making -- for Maserati

Ferrari is adding 250 workers and expanding its engine-building capacity, even as it says it will cut car production this year at its landmark factory in Maranello, Italy. Why the cause for growth? Ferrari is ramping up its in-house engine operation and will produce more V6 engines, which sister company Maserati will use in the redesigned Quattroporte sedan and the smaller E-segment entry, the Ghibli.
