BAC Mono finally hits the U.S. (video)Sat, 26 Jan 2013Sector 111 – US importers of the epic BAC Mono – have finally revealed the first US Mono at Cars and Coffee in Irvine, California. It’s more than a year since we reported that Sector 111 would be offering the BAC Mono in the US and now, having completely sold their 2012 allocation of just 12 Monos, the first US built (well, bolted together from a CKD kit by Sector 111) has been revealed to petrolheads at the Cars and Coffee meet in Irvine, California. And the Cars & Coffee meeting is a great place for Sector 111 to show off their first Mono as its attended by a bunch of knowledgeable and wealthy Californians, just the sort of potential buyer Sector 111 are looking for. Merry Christmas 2013 from all at Cars UKWed, 25 Dec 2013Merry Christmas 2013 from all at Cars UK It’s that time of year when, whatever your beliefs, it’s a great excuse to kick back, relax, enjoy good food and drink and chill. So, even though we run regular car news every other day of the year, we get let off the leash to scatter to family gatherings and forget the travails of reporting the latest car news on Christmas Day. This year, just as we have in many previous years, we bring you Bernie Ecclestone’s take on Christmas 2013, the usual Bernie cartoon take on what’s been his event of the year in F1. Bentley uses 3D printing to prototype new designs [w/Video]Tue, 17 Sep 20133D printing is changing the way the world makes things by helping people of all disciplines to enhance and refine their ideas cheaply, quickly and effectively. Bentley is the latest carmaker to utilize the technology to fabricate and prototype different parts to see how they'll look and work on the finished design. Using 3D printers, designers can produce parts from the exterior and interior such as the grille, tires, headlamps and door handles as well as combine different types of contrasting materials, ranging from hard plastics to rubbers of different tensile strengths. The technology allows the user to create a solid 3D object straight from a digital model by printing layers of material on top of each other. This process rapidly decreases the delivery time, as parts can be printed overnight, and allows designers to be more creative in their ideas because of the reduced cost. Bentley isn't the first carmaker to use 3D printing technology. Audi announced last year it was beginning to prototype vehicle parts using 3D printers. 2040Parts.com © 2012-2024. All Rights Reserved.
