Pontiac Lives: Tire-smokin' GTOs and Trans Ams set for SoCal auction

It's been almost a year since General Motors announced the end of the road for Pontiac. While the century-old brand has now joined Oldsmobile, Plymouth and a long list of other iconic makes in the automotive afterlife, the collector market remains more alive than ever. A lineup of 27 classic Pontiacs, including 17 GTOs, will cross the auction block in June.

Porsche Cayenne S hybrid: More techs and specs released

Porsche is serving up a few more details on the Cayenne S hybrid, which is expected to arrive in 2010. It should be green--and mean to the tune of 385 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. And carbon-dioxide emissions are expected to be reduced by 20 percent over a comparable combustion engine.

Infiniti planning new global flagship model

Infiniti is planning a flagship, sporty four-door coupe in the mold of the Porsche Panamera as the joint flagship of its expanding range. The sweeping-looking four-door will take its styling inspiration from the Infiniti Essence concept penned by design chief Shiro Nakamura and first shown at the Geneva motor show in 2009. The new car is part of Infiniti's ambitious plan to become a serious global luxury brand by carving out 10 percent of that market, equivalent to about 500K sales by 2020 and backed up by a significantly expanded model range and huge investment from parent Nissan.
