The winners of the 2007 World Automotive Design Competition (WADC), sponsored by Autodesk, were announced at the 2007 Canadian International Auto Show in February. The competition was relaunched in 2007 with a few new twists created to meet the needs of the global automotive industry. The fifth WADC strived to provide manufacturers worldwide with a source of new automotive design talent and to encourage design students, and especially women, to choose a career in automotive design.

Millions of Ford vehicles recalled for engine-fire risk are still unrepaired

About 8.4 million Ford vehicles that can possibly catch fire remain on the road because of lack of owner information even after the largest U.S. safety recall ever, regulators said Thursday. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urged owners of the 14 million vehicles recalled between 1999 and 2009 for leaky cruise-control switches to take their unrepaired vehicles in to dealers.

CDN-Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design competition winner announced

Vladislav Domanin is the overall winner of the CDN-Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design competition. The announcement was made by Friedhelm Engler, Director GME Advanced Design, during the second day press day of the Paris motor show on the Opel/Vauxhall stand. Mateusz Wowk from the Academy of Art of Design in Wroclaw was this year's runner-up in the exterior category, while Matic Vihtelic of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana, was declared runner-up in the interior category.
