Future Audis may time traffic lights for you
Tue, 11 Mar 2014Here's a trick efficiency-chasing hypermilers have been using for years: spotting the cycles of stoplights from 100 to 200 yards out and letting the car coast up to the light just before it turns green, then carrying on without ever letting the car come to a complete stop. These hypermilers, along with professional truck drivers, do this because they know that accelerating from a standstill burns the greatest amount of fuel, and because letting a car coast up to the light with the automatic transmission downshifting by itself is easier on the transmission than stomping on the brakes right beneath the stoplight. Oh, and it's easier on the brake pads as well.
Lamborghini Jota spotted
Sun, 29 Aug 2010The Lamborghini Jota snapped on the Autobahn The last news we had on the Lamborghini Jota - Lambo’s replacement for the now quite ancient Murcielago – was a pointless tease for the Jota sent to us in July by Lamborghini with a photo of a Lamborghini bonnet in half shadow replete with Lamborghini badge. Oh, and the highly original strapline: Coming Soon… Which we knew. We’ve been reporting on the Jota for quite some time (and on the halo Lamborghini we expect it to spawn – the Lamborghini Urus) so there are likely no huge surprises – except just how it’s going to look.
Holidaymakers warned against bogus hire car
Mon, 16 Dec 2013AHEAD OF THE busy holiday period a warning has been issued to those travelling abroad to look out for car hire rental scams. The industry body British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association has advised customers to be wary of 'too good to be true' offers over the Christmas period, including very low rates and nationwide availability right up to Christmas Day. But the BVRLA is aware of many customers who have handed over deposits for cars that are never delivered, leaving them out of pocket and with no transport.
