ACC Performance Boss Hog GM Powerglide Dirt Track Converter

GM 1962-1973 2 speed PowerGlide, 10.5" bolt circle, 17 spline, 9.75" Dia.

This auction is for a new ACC Performance Boss Hog GM Powerglide torque converter. This converter is especially designed and built with circle track dirt racing in mind. Converters have modified fins to produce an ultra low stall (1600-1800 RPM) while utilizing the small 9.75" diameter case. Reverse flow top fins increase fluid flow for this low stall. Designed to allow the converter to achieve the 1:1 drive ratio with the engine that occurs at stall quicker. High stalls only produce more heat, you're over the stall range RPM most of the time anyway, and, if you're under the stall coming out of the corner and stomp on it it'll be flashing and probably want to get the car loose.

These converters incorporate the usual ACC goodies such as heavy duty industrial bearings including a large front bearing and extra welding on vital components to perform under the harsh conditions and stress of dirt racing. This converter is 9.75" in diameter. Weighs about 23 pounds. Standard length pilot.

WARNING: Dirt Track Racers - Some of these parts may or may not be legal at your track. This product looks stock but runs fast. Use at your own risk!

Mid plate users - extended pilot converters can be custom ordered, please contact us for more details.

The automotive industry now has a new torque converter leader. ACC has emerged as a out-right leader in this industry and here’s why:

Welded not  Furnace Brazed. Contrary to popular belief, furnace brazing is not the best way to adhere torque converter components to together. Just like a Teflon coated pan, after some time the furnace brazing will erode away and ruin the stators and all other rotating parts in your transmission. All of ACC torque converters are welded at the seams, not brazed, to eliminate the erosion after time.

Industrial Bearings - No Light Duty Needle Bearings. Needle bearings are good, but not great. Industrial bearings give these converters the ability to handle not hundreds, but thousands of pounds of torque. That’s much better then the higher priced alternative converters.

Aircraft Aluminum Washers - NO FIBER. ACC converters utilize an aircraft quality aluminum washer instead of those old fiber washers that other companies use. This allows for more horsepower and torque capabilities.

NO Automation - ALL HAND BUILT. ACC Performance torque converters are hand built and tested to ensure that you are getting the best converter money can buy. No automated process can ensure that you will get that kind of quality. Made here in the USA. (You old school people may remember ACC as Alabama Converters).

With all this new information, ask yourself one question. Are you paying too much money for not enough converter? We bet you are. All ACC Performance torque converters are warrantied for a period of 2 years to be free of defects in material or workmanship under normal operating conditions, providing normal application and installation methods are followed. This warranty does not cover any units that have been tampered with or altered prior to our inspection and is limited to the replacement of the defective torque converter upon inspection.

ACC Performance has been building High Quality Torque Converters since 1970.  ACC is known for extra strong converters that are lighter than the competition, meaning less rotating mass.  Remember stall ranges will vary depending on your application and that stall is an equation that comes from: engine setup vs. vehicle weight vs. gear ratio.

Torque converter fit and application is 100% the responsibility of buyer.

If you have any doubts to your application, call us at 515-733-2890 before bidding!

Shipping is based on weight and size of package.  We will try to combine as many items into one package as possible but doing separate checkouts makes it hard.  Please message us for a quote before buying multiple items.

Hangover affects driving ability 'as much as being drunk'

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

A HANGOVER following a night of heavy drinking can impair driving performance as much as driving under the influence of alcohol, according to new research. Scientists at universities in the UK and the Netherlands found that the effects of a night's heavy drinking last longer than a measurable blood alcohol concentration and that hangover immunity is largely a myth. In research conducted at the University of the West of England, participants who had been drinking the night before undertook a 20-minute simulation of driving in a mixed urban and rural setting.

Jaguar XFR – the Cat’s out of the bag

Sat, 10 Jan 2009

The XFR is Jaguar’s answer to the barn-storming saloons from Mercedes, BMW and Audi, and if looks and spec (and the experience of driving the non-blown XF) are anything to go by, the new big Cat should get the cream. The XFR gets the new version of Jaguar’s AJV8 engine, which is a 5.0 litre supercharged lump, producing a whopping 510bhp, with the usual limited top speed of 155mph, and a 0-60 of around 4.5 seconds. The New Jaguar XFR surfaces ahead of Detroit Visually, the XFR gets the ‘Aggressive’ look, with big, chrome-trimmed air inlets at the sides (a Jaguar theme?

Bugatti sell their 400th Veyron – just 50 left to go. But what next for Bugatti?

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

The 400th Veyron – a Grand Sport Vitesse Jean-Pierre Wimille Special Edition Bugatti may have come to rely on ‘Special Edition’ Veyrons to keep making sales, but they’re now getting close to the end of their production run. The Veyron – which debuted in 2005 – is limited to a total of 300 coupes and 150 Roadsters, and all the coupes are long gone with just the Roadsters left to finish their run, and only 50 of are those left to sell. Not surprisingly, the 400th Veyron to be sold – the latest Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Jean-Pierre Wimille Special Edition – went to a client in the Middle East at a hefty €2.14 million which, at a rates of around one a week sold for the last eight years, means the Veyron will be consigned to the Bugatti history book by the end of 2014.
