Famous racers dominate classic car auction

MORE THAN 100 classic cars and motorbikes will go under the hammer this weekend at one of the biggest ever auctions of its type. Silverstone Auctions will host the Race Retro sale at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, where famous names like Ayrton Senna, James Hunt and Colin McRae will be scattered throughout the lots. Alfa Romeo Celebrates Giulietta Anniversary With Retro Price Tag

ITALIAN car maker Alfa Romeo has made one customer very happy, after turning back the clock to 1954 prices for a brand new Giulietta. The original Giulietta Sprint was first unveiled to the public on April 19 1954 at the Turin Motor Show, and later sold for the princely sum of just £1,250. To celebrate the iconic model’s 60th anniversary, Alfa Romeo UK entered all customers who ordered a new Giulietta during the 60th anniversary event (April 7-22, 2014) into a prize draw, offering one customer the chance to be refunded the difference between the 1954 and 2014 prices.

MG name stands proud again at Longbridge

The company that runs the remnants of former UK automaker MG Rover has dropped a reference to its Chinese parent from its name. NAC MG UK has changed its name to MG Motor UK to emphasize the MG name, a company spokesman said. Nanjing Automobile Company or NAC bought MG Rover's assets in July 2005, three months after the UK's last domestically owned volume carmaker collapsed through financial difficulties.
