Aerocarb ACV-CO3 (32 mm)
order date : Feb 2008 carb P/N : CO3LS s/n : 0824 carb description : 32 mm Large spigot includes air filter : ACV-C10-30 I originally tried to install this on a Jabiru 2200. I built a Zenair CH601 and installed this engine. The airplane is low wing and only had wing tanks. Because of this I had to use the suggested regulator. After much discussion and much time and much expense I decided to go back to the original Bing carburetor. The aerocarb did not work with the regulator. Ironically, the original Bing carburetor has run just fine for many years. At the time I thought I needed mixture control, I did not. PLEASE BE ADVISED : I SEARCHED FOR ONE PERSON WHO HAS USED THE REGULATOR, I COULD NOT FIND ANY ONE. SONEX AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT OR COULD NOT GIVE ME A NAME OF SOMEONE WHO WAS SUCCESSFUL WITH A REGULATOR. USE GRAVITY FEED P.S. I have talked to four sonex builders who have used the carburetor and it worked just fine. The gas tank on the sonex is located over their feet. A regulator was not used. |

Marcello Gandini laments today's 'fake' concepts
Tue, 12 Nov 2013Marcello Gandini has branded current concept cars fakes and "little more than maquettes" in an interview about Bertone's extensive concept car history. The enigmatic designer, whose work with the design house stretches back to the late ‘60s, expressed his dislike of today's "fiberglass cars" and claims they can't hold a candle to the well-built concepts of old. He praises Nuccio Bertone's vision and his insistence on producing fully working, "almost driveable" concepts throughout the coachbuilder's existence.
One Lap of the Web: Mercedes-Benz SLC rendered, Google Glass for the Tesla S and a rusty Datsun 280ZX
Mon, 08 Jul 2013We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Last month we brought you some intriguing spy photos of a Porsche 911-fighting Mercedes-Benz coupe -- possibly to be called the SLC, or even the next SLS AMG (it's all a bit unclear at this point) -- but layers of camouflage made it a bit tough to see what the car will look like.
