I'm selling my set of valves shims for the V-6 engines. These are the original harder shims that Alfa required all V-6's to use. You can tell the difference by the harder ones have a single groove around the outside.

These shims were close to double the price of the 4 cylinder ones.  In 1994 Alfa ( well really Fiat ) decide you could use the 4 cylinder shims in the V-6's. They were discontinued in 1994 and have not been available for years. They were only available in sizes 1500 to 3000.

We found that the 4 cylinder shims would actually have excessive wear on the underside of the shim after 30,000 miles. So while 4 cylinder shims will work. With the V-6 ones you will be adjusting the intake less often. They also work great in race engines.

All the shims have been ultrasonic cleaned then dried in an oven. Then they were sprayed with Boeshield which is a rust preventive. I have sorted all of them with a Mitutoyo calibrated digital gauge. There are 167 shims. Most of them are used and a few are nos. Being that they were ultrasonic cleaned. The used ones are almost as clean as new ones would be.

The latch on the lid is broken and the magnet is not an original one. It is made to look like and original one though. The lid has permanent spots on it. The numbers on the decals are faded. The shim holes are stained but they are clean. One of the hinges is partially broken. But the lid does work fine.

I am selling several sets so look at my other ads as quantity and pricing are different.

New Kia launches Focus and Golf attack

Tue, 15 Aug 2006

By Phil McNamara Motor Industry 15 August 2006 09:00 Europe's fastest growing car brand – Kia – is finally wading into Europe's biggest market with a serious contender. But with a joke of a name: the Cee'd. Kia claims the five-door hatchback will be the most spacious car in the C-segment, where it will do battle with the VW Golf, Ford Focus et al.

Volvo XC70 (2007): first official pictures

Tue, 06 Mar 2007

By Chris Chilton First Official Pictures 06 March 2007 05:48 I see Volvo hasn't given up on the halfway SUV idea Far from it. In fact Volvo UK watched sales of the old V70-based XC70 rise after the introduction of the full-blown XC90 off-roader. Apparently many buyers were lured into showrooms by the XC90 but found themselves signing on the dotted line for its smaller brother.

Driven: Mini Clubman

Fri, 24 Oct 2008

The Mini Clubman is one of the most interesting - but polarizing - car designs on the market today. The first generation 'new' Mini was a big success for BMW, despite having been such a huge leap from the original Mini design in so many ways. With the second generation Mini following the first very closely, it now falls to the new Clubman variant to push further what a 'Mini' can be.
