Seat confirms new SUV model: is Skoda next?

By Ollie Kew and Damion Smy Motor Industry 26 March 2014 13:00 Seat has officially announced today that it is developing an all-new compact SUV model to join the Spanish outfit’s range in 2016. Seat says that the new SUV is already two years into development at the company’s Martorell technical facility in Spain. The as yet unnamed car is likely to share engines and platform with other ‘compact SUVs’ made by parent company, Volkswagen Group, such as the next-gen VW Tiguan and Audi Q3, which will use the MQB modular architecture.

Design Contest: 2004 Motor Trend International Design Contest winners announced

Nov 2, 2004 - The winners of the 2004 Motor Trend International Design Contest were announced during Media Day at the California International Auto Show (CIAS) held in Anaheim. Top honors were awarded to Guilherme Albuquerque Knop (26) from Parana, Brazil. Guilherme received the award for best of show and a cash prize of $2,500 for his design of an Armani/ Transport.

Local Motors 'Design Our Car' competition opens

Local Motors has opened its first-ever ‘Design Our Car' competition, which encourages collaboration within the manufacturing community. The open-source automaker is providing two of its Rally Fighter cars, one of which will be built at the company's micro-factory in Arizona while the other will be built live in the Emerging Technology Center at September's International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago. Ideas from the design and engineering community are being sought to help design and select a skin for the Rally Fighter that will be built by the Local Motors team this spring.
