Consumer Reports calls out Ford mileage claims
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Yet another flagship Ford technology has ended up on Consumer Reports' bad side. After roundly panning the MyFord Touch infotainment system, the magazine has now gone after EcoBoost, Ford's line of direct-injected turbocharged gasoline engines. Nissan GT-R tweaked for 2009 with more power
Tue, 09 Dec 2008By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 09 December 2008 11:30 The Nissan GT-R still hasn’t gone on sale in Europe and it's already been treated to a few tweaks - new for 2009 will be more power, revised suspension, different wheels and tyres, plus a price hike. Quite, but the increase is a mere 5bhp, taking the output of Nissan's 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 from 473 to 478bhp. Nissan says the extra grunt comes from the fine tweaking of the electronics, though torque remains unchanged at 432lb ft.
Volkswagen give the VW XL1 Ducati power
Sun, 29 Sep 2013Volkswagen give the VW XL1 Ducati power It’s more than two years since Volkswagen rolled out the VW XL1 Super Efficient Vehicle as a demonstration of how light weight and low power can make for extremely economical motoring. But the silly mpg VW quoted for the XL1 – 313mpg – comes at a fairly horrible price, with the news at Geneva this year that the XL1 is heading for limited production, but with a price tag likely to be around £100k. Bit it seems that VW has found a new use for the XL1, and this time it’s not about extreme economy but more about real performance.
