Audi Sportback unveiled at Detroit auto show 2009

The show car hogged the limelight at the Detroit auto show 2009 – and the Audi group chairman Rupert Stadler confirmed to CAR Online that it previewed a Sportback verison of the A5 coupe. While Avant signifies, for Audi, the estate breed, Sportback indicates a more practical hatchback/fastback model.

Fiat launches the 500L Beats Edition (pictured) MINI managed to make us believe that the MINI Countryman is a proper MINI only bigger, and Fiat are having a degree of success in convincing car buyers that the 500L is just a grown-up Fiat 500. Although, judging by the new 500L limited edition – the Fiat 500L Beats Edition – buyers are not too grown up to appreciated a limited edition with a USP of an uprated sound system by Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M Records chairman and record producer Jimmy Iovine.

According to the show's organisers, the 2013 LA Motor Show is the 'mother of all shows' - how wonderfully American! It runs from 20 November to 1 December at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and although it's not the biggest motor show on Earth, it does boast a fair number of world debuts and 'first reveals' – many of which we’ve rounded up in the following gallery. Tickets cost $10 (£6.22) during the week and $12 (£7.47) at weekends.
