Up for auction is this Oakes Indianapolis spare tire lock for various 1920's (and we are told several early 1930's) antique cars and trucks.  Has keyhole with serial # 21231A with original cover.  Impressed with "OAKES INDIANAPOLIS" logo.  Also has the letter "C" on one side.  Measures about 4 1/2 inches long.  The lock covered and controlled a bolt which held in the spare tire.  Made of heavy black metal frame with chrome (or chrome like) front locking mechanism.  No key.  In nice shape with some wear to paint and wear to chrome front (see pictures).  Lock looks to be in good working condition.  Quite heavy!!!  A great and hard to find piece in nice shape offered with NO RESERVE!!

A nice addition to any Antique car part collection or to help rebuild an existing antique car!

Concept Car of the Week: Dodge Deora (1967)

Fri, 02 May 2014

Half concept car, half custom but all awesome, the Dodge Deora was designed by former GM designer Harry Bentley Bradley for the famous car customizers the Alexander brothers who wanted to build a radical custom truck using one of the Big Three's new cabover mini-pickups. They relied on Bradley's futuristic drawings to seduce Chrysler who eventually agreed to provide a stripped down A100 truck for them to customize although the final design shares almost nothing with the original donor car. The cabin was radically chopped and integrated into the rest of the body and – after its suspension was also lowered – the overall height of the Deora was reduced by a whopping 380mm.

Next Ford Mustang to follow Evos concept, ditch retro styling, report says

Mon, 16 Apr 2012

The Ford Mustang has been rolling with a retro-heavy styling theme since the fourth generation of the pony car appeared as a 1994 model. The newspaper, citing sources it did not name who know of Ford's plans, says that the new Mustang will look a lot like the Evos concept from last year's Frankfurt show.
