Headstuds are one of the most important parts that a motor can have. Why do you ask? Its simple, they are the main key that holds a block and cylinder head together to be able to make any sort of power. So as you start to climb the power ladder you will find very quickly that the OEM headbolts will not be able to keep those two parts together very long, causing issues such as blowing the headgasket, pressurising the coolant and cause constant overheating issues.  So the next step is to look for a stronger solution and this is where ARP comes in.

ARP’s Material used in this kit is what is called 8740 Chrome moly. 8740 Chrome moly is known as a good tough steel that has very good fatigue properties for most racing applications in today but only if the threads are rolled after being heat treated which is standard procedure at ARP’s Facility. Chrome Moly can be classified as a quench and temper steel, once heat treated can produce and deliver a tensile strength from 180,000 to 210,000 psi.

Toyota Auris Hybrid emissions cut to 84g/km

Tue, 14 May 2013

We’ve long believed that car makers better serve their customers by offering ‘Green’ options as add-ons to regular car models, and adding the hybrid option from the Prius to the Auris has seen Auris sales climb steeply whilst Prius sales drop off. There’s only so many buyers who want to shout their green halo from the rooftops, so incorporating green technologies in the regular range opens up far more possibilities for a sale. Now, with the Auris Hybrid sales growing by 69 per cent year on year in the UK, Toyota has had a play to make the Auris Hybrid even more efficient.

Hennessey unveils VelociRaptor SUV

Mon, 20 May 2013

From the folks who brought you the Venom GT and countless other cars and trucks capable of putting up ridiculous numbers, Hennessey Performance is back with another concoction, the VelociRaptor SUV. Based on the standard Ford F-150 Raptor, the truck is converted to a full-size SUV (think Ford Excursion) with seating for up to eight people. Though it's based on the Raptor, don't expect to go extreme off-roading with it, as Hennessey states that this car is intended for on-road use, as well as light to moderate off-roading.

McLaren F1 – the California Burn-Up!

Tue, 02 Jun 2009

Brings a tear to the eye - a burnt-out McLaren F1 The McLaren F1 is certainly a car designed to burn up the road. But for one poor owner that became a literal nightmare as his £1.75 million McLaren F1 burnt out on a drive to the airport in Rincon Valley, California. McLaren owner Irv Kessler hadn’t used the F1 for 6 months, but he probably wishes he hadn’t yesterday either.
