College Exhibition: IED Degree Show 2007
Wed, 10 Oct 2007The Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin (IED) teamed up with Toyota to create "Prius of 2010-2015", the third year project of 26 students in the post-graduate Transportation Design Course. Led by Fulvio Fantolino, IED's Transportation Design Course Coordinator and followed in the various design stages by Elvio D'Aprile, Assistant Chief Designer at Toyota Europe Design Development, and by Tateo Uchida, General Director Research and Project Forum, the task to come up with concepts that, in addition to heightening the technological excellence, could stress the emotional element, an essential characteristic to conquer the European and world market. In all, ten projects were created and submitted to Toyota as the students' final thesis projects, showcasing a variety of different proposals for future ecological hybrid vehicles.
Ellesmere Port Celebrates Five Decades Of Production
Mon, 09 Jun 2014VAUXHALL recently celebrated 50 years of production at its Ellesmere Port facility by recreating the original 1964 press image of the first vehicle coming off the line, in the same production location with today’s Astra alongside. The first new car to be produced at Ellesmere Port was a Vauxhall Viva HA, a model name that would run in a number of variants until 1978, when it was replaced by the Chevette. The Viva cost £527 7s 11d at launch.
New Images: Mercedes Unimog concept
Wed, 15 Jun 2011Mercedes-Benz's Special Trucks unit (MBS) recently revealed a design study celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Unimog at the Daimler plant in Wörth, Germany. Called simply '60 Years Unimog', the concept is said to inform the future form language of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle design. Developed jointly by the MBS development team, the Daimler commercial vehicle designers in Sindelfingen and a model designing partner, the Unimog concept was inspired by the poison dart frog, a natie of Central and South America.
