Black Reflective Vinyl DODGE Letters for your Challenger

Self-Adhesive Black Reflective Vinyl Overlay

Before    and    After

Note I removed the letters on my Challenger by using dental floss to saw through the foam tape holding them in place. I then painted the letters Gloss Black and re-installed them using 3M black double-sided adhesive tape prior to applying the reflective vinyl overlay.

  • Will fit the Reverse Light DODGE letters on the 2008 to 2014 Dodge Challenger ONLY.

  • Will fit all trim levels (SE, SXT, R/T, SRT) as they all use the same reverse light assmbly.

  • 5.5 mil (0.0055" thick) BLACK Reflective "Fleet-grade" SMF premium Cast vinyl film with a 7 year outdoor durability rating.

  • This is the same type of material the local law enforcment use on their "Stealth" vehicles. During the day it's Black, but shine a light on it at night and it turns bright silver.

  • Actual chrome letters are not included. This is a self-adhesive overlay to apply on top of your existing letters.

  • "Ready to Install" - simply peel and stick. Each of the five letters will need to be applied individually.

  • All vinyl decals are custom-cut and are sold "as-is".

  Material . . .

Unless stated otherwise, CanMilAir uses only professional grade, high-performance "cast" vinyl, with each design computer cut to very high tolerances. The self-adhesive vinyl material is manufactured by the premier supplier of self-adhesive films to the high end of the graphics and printing industry and is imported directly from Newport, in South Wales, UK.

Consumers should be aware that there are two basic types of self-adhesive vinyl available on the graphics market and each have their own characteristics, typical usages and relevent costs.

  • "Calendered" vinyl is a thicker vinyl (3 to 4-mil) that is prone to shrinkage (visible cracking) over time. The rated outdoor life expectancy of this material is typically only 1 to 3 years which makes it suitable for temporary applications only.  Therefore calendared vinyl film is significantly less expensive than the "cast" type.

  • "Cast" vinyl is a premium film that is more dimensionally stable giving it a longer life expectancy. The vinyl film is only 0.002" (2-mil) thick so it will easily conform to minor surface irregularities.  The rated outdoor life expectency of this high-performance material is 7 to 10 years, but usually far outlives this rating and would last indefinitely when used in an indoor enviroment.
Unless otherwise stated, this is the vinyl film CanMilAir uses.

So, an economy “calendered” vinyl film would not be a wise choice for long term applications and a high-performance "cast" film would be overkill for an application where it would only be used for a few months. In terms of cost to purchase, "Cast" film is typically at least 3x more expensive than "Calendared" film. A good example  of "... you get what you pay for".

Running flat out: BMW is a leader in pushing run-flat tires

Tue, 31 Aug 2010

BMW is getting ready to launch its next-generation compact SUV, the X3, and it will ride--as most BMWs and Minis sold today--on run-flat tires. Of all the companies producing cars today, BWM has embraced run-flat technology like no other. Chevrolet with the Corvette, and some Lexus models, among others, use run-flats in certain applications.

New Kia Carens gets new range-topper – the Carens 3 Sat Nav

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

New Kia Carens gets new range-topper – the Carens 3 Sat Nav But it seems Kia’s customers are shouting out for something that offers more standard equipment than the regular, not very inventive, trim levels of 1, 2 and 3, so Kia has decided to add a fourth option – the Kia Carens 3 Sat Nav to the range. The Carens 3 already comes with a decent enough spec – including panoramic roof, 17″ alloys, leather, heated seats, second row sun blinds and colour reversing camera – but the 3 Sat Nav adds a 7″ touchscreen SatNav and new audio system with 8-channel amp and sub woofer offering a better sound experience for all occupants. The Carens 3 Sat Nav is only available with Kia’s 134bhp 1.7 litre CRDI with 6-speed manual ‘box and costs from £24,845.
