2012 Acura TSX Special Edition aimed at the younger generation

Mon, 29 Aug 2011

Acura is continuing the celebration of its 25th anniversary by creating a special-edition TSX with a slant toward the track. It doesn't add any power, unfortunately, but it does attach the bits that look the part.

The 2012 TSX Special Edition package comes with a more aggressive front spoiler, a new bumper fascia, unique side sills and special-edition badges on the trunk. New five-spoke wheels measuring 17 inches with a polished finish and dark gray background complete the package.

Inside, the TSX gets perforated black Lux Suede inserts with red backing. The seats, steering wheel and shift knob have red accent stitching to contrast with the black of the rest of the interior. Red lights in the instrument panel, overhead and in the footwell also complement the stitching.

The pedals are covered in aluminum while the steering-wheel paddles, if the car is so equipped, have bright silver plating. A black headliner is unique to the special edition.

The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine remains, producing 201 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. Both manual and automatic transmissions are offered.

The car will go on sale in September. Pricing hasn't been announced, but sources at Acura say that it will sit in the middle of the TSX lineup and will be aimed at younger buyers.
